What is food sensitivity testing?

Food sensitivities can be caused by either an intolerance or an allergy to certain foods.

When we test for food intolerance, we test for Immunoglobulin G (IgG) antibody levels that are present to certain foods. An intolerance is indicated when there is a delayed reaction to an allergen (usually a food) and can be anywhere from several hours to days.

When we test for food allergies we look at Immunoglobulin E (IgE) antibodies. This type of reaction occurs at the same time or immediately after exposure to an antigen (food or inhalant).

How is the test performed?

This test requires a blood sample. Lauren will provide information on where to have this performed.

How long do the results take?

Usually within 4 weeks.

What happens when the I get my results?

Lauren will walk you through your results at your next consultation and answer any questions you have. She will also provide detailed advice about how to plan your diet around your test results. This includes guidance on food alternatives, what you should be avoiding and where to source ingredients.
